Presenting: all the ways i'm leaving you
Grow up. Move out. Speed off. Give up. In the new landscape series
all the ways I'm leaving you, Joshua Barber excavates the deepest reasons we leave the things we love.
JOSHUA BARBER:
Joshua Barber paints modern icons and landscapes. His stylized figures depict microcosms of memory both whimsical and dark. He has held two solo shows in Richmond and been selected for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ “Art After Hours” for three consecutive years. Joshua Barber has most recently shown his work in New York, Los Angeles and London; his last exhibit was held in August at Knifesmith Gallery in Bristol, England.
He has lately had his work sold through Dreweatts of London at their Urban Contemporary exhibitions and is part of Dreweatts next auction on October 21st, 2010.
ANDRE LUCERO:
Born in Tehran, Iran in 1967, Andre's U.S. Military family returned to the states soon after his birth settling in a Washington D.C. Suburb. Early on, Andre's artistic nature was encouraged by his parents who were both patrons of the arts.
Andre Lucero's illustrations have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Playboy, U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Times, Arthristis Tdoay, Business Law Today and Government Executive. Andre decided to leave the field of illustration and devote his full attention to his first love, painting. Andre Lucero lives and maintains a studio in Richmond, Virginia
ED HATCH:
Ed is widely recognized for his unique ability to capture a special feeling and awareness in the subjects he paints. Over the past couple of years, he has taken up plein-aire painting. Ed states "I find that painting on location, has greatly improved my studio production as it has forced me to become more efficient in applying paint."
Ed has had his work published in Virginia Wildlife, Hampton Roads Magazine, American Art Collector, and Artist and Art Galleries of the South. He has also earned several awards including: Virginia Heritage Award Presented by Governor Baliles, Virginia Museum Professional Fellowship Award, Best in Show at the Mid-Atlantic Wildfowl Festival three years in a row.
